MAINA GIELGUD’S
GISELLE

The duality of the body and spirit, evocation of the supernatural, and the tale of undying love and devotion endears this quintessentially romantic ballet to a universal audience.

Staged in November 2025 by Maina Gielgud, Giselle was the first full-length ballet performed by Cape Ballet Africa.

For this milestone production new sets were constructed; which was the first time a ballet set had been built in South Africa in thirty years.

Premiering in the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town to great success, Giselle remains an integral part of the young company’s repertoire.
